Selection Criteria
This resource features a digitised collection of prompt books of the plays of William Shakespeare, sourced from the Folger Shakespeare Library’s Prompt Books Collection. Additional supporting content such as photographs, costume illustrations and music scores has also been selected from the Folger Shakespeare Library to provide further context for case studies on 17 prominent productions of Shakespeare’s plays.
A note on exclusions
Where exclusions have been made, this is largely due to:
- Material being too fragile to be handled for digitisation
- Copyright and permission considerations
- Data protection concerns
